Author Novala Takemoto was arrested the 2nd of September for posession of Cannabis. He admited being guilty of the charges and even admited consuming the drug.
The new has already have consequences as Baby the Stars shine bright has already pull the the line clothing he designed for the brand.
Takemoto is famous for writing the novel Shimotsuma Monogatari/Kamikaze Girls.
Finally I was able to buy the September issue of Shojo Beat. As the serialization of Nana in the magazine said “bye bye” last month a new manga has to fill the gap, with the high quality and huge popularity Nana has it probably wasn’t easy for the SJ staff to find a good substitute but the new manga that started in the magazine seems to be good enough to fill the gap. I’m talking of Honey and Clover by Chika Umino.
Honey and Clover in the first chapter shows the everyday life of tree college students: Yuta Takemoto, Takumi Mayama and Shinobu Morita who live in a old students building and seem to be most of the time broke, except for Morita who tends to mysteriously disappear for many days and always return extremely tired and loaded with cash. The manga starts with the dorm friends munching down some croquettes Morita brought before collapsing, and once he starts sleeping there doesn’t to be a human power than can wake him up, in fact because of his he hasn’t been able to graduate as he always oversleeps the day he needs to go to his finals. In the morning Yuta tries to wake him up and he succeeds but Morita ask for other 5 minutes and goes down again, it comes a moment that Yuta just gives up and shuts before going that he is not to blame if Morita doesn’t graduate this year, the sleeping handsome reacts hurries like there is no tomorrow, taking the scooter Yuta was going in and crashing it into some sculpture projects even.
Back home when everybody is talking in a classroom a really cute and petite girl arrives, her name is Hagumi and she is a 18 years old art student even if she looks like a kid. Everybody seems to be smitten with her princess manners but when Morita arrives and sees her… he goes running into the fields and comes back with a huge leaf that gives to Hagu and starts taking her pictures exclamating KOROPOKKUR! KOROPOKKUR!*, scaring the poor girl in the process.
The boys later found out that Morita uploaded the pictures of Hagu on the internet as “proof” of the existence of koropokkuries, Morita though is not that insensitive and once he finds out Hagu likes pretty shoes immediately buys her a beautiful(and expensive) pair just her size. Hagy is delirious with happiness.
For the first chapters Honey and Clover really make a good impression, the art is well drawn and the characters are charming. I will miss Nana but I will happily follow this new title.
*something like elves.

What modern book do you think will be read in high school by the next generation of kids?
Submitted by Tom.
Speaking as a citizen of a country that studies say people only read 2 books... a year, I can only see... Harry Potter. Literature profesors may cringe to the idea but to the moment is one of the few books young people is reading at their own initiave.
Now, If I were a literature teacher what books I would make my students read?:
First, I would break their minds with the dystopian triple combo:
Brave new world by Aldous Huxley
1984 by George Orwell
Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
that would make them think, I hope, or at least asking me for mercy and to stop shattering their little happy bubble of obliviousness.
Also I would put them to read Sandman... which is a comic but a really excelente piece of literature and the proof that classics don't really need to be in pure prose.
This aparently:
My chemical romance disc: the black parade gatefold. Ilustration by James Jean
So what do you think is Yukari Toshimichi a MCR fan or perhaps she just saw the image and liked it... or in the most obscure of the posibilities she may be a James Jean fan
Seems that a whole new can of worms has opened, the blogs ranting about the cover of heroes for hire 13 have been multiplying exponentially in the last 24 hours... this is going big...
Also many people already have making a detailing list of what's wrong with the cover, maybe the ones who planned, drawed and aproved the cover thought it was supposed to be funny... well for the reaction I have seen is definately not. Even if the content of the comic has nothing to do with the cover tentacle rape or the mere impling of it is not everybody's cup of tea, actually many people are disgusted by it. Also the cover just don't belong there, if you wan't to do a Marvel porn parody do it, but on the MAX line. The cover just on the place it is, is only scarying potential readers.
Welcome to bookworming!!! Over this blog I make reviews whatever thing I am reading this week and make me want to comment about it, if you may be wondering: why there are only comics’ reviews by now and not a prose book at all in all the archives? Sorry… my bad, but I am so bad at organizing my time that the only books I have been able to read are the ones I have to read as assignment. I will try at least to make a review of one or two one of these days… I hope…
My spare keyboard seems to be failing so I just take it to repair, since this is going to take longer than a week and I really need a keyword for doing my homework I had to book a spare… again. That leaves me with the total of 3 keyboards, one being repaired, one broken beyond repair and the last one working like a charm… let’s hope this one doesn’t broke.
Enough about me, this time review will be of a manga I love to hate… vampire knight… I swear the only reason I read that thing is that I already unwillingly paid for it every time I bought the Shojo beat magazine… oh well maybe not as I don’t definitely pass it or read it at the end -.- , the drawing is beautiful I accept that but there are this little things each chapter that just irk me each and every single time I read it… the 3 main characters are pretty and look charismatic but lack a personality of their own, the heroine is a total inept at fighting even if she had a proper training, also… she doesn’t want to fight with them… okayyy Yuki, you may really want to have peaceful social relations with them but you know perfectly there are times they won’t doubt for a second and hurt you so the least you can do is quit the bullshit and show who’s boss… you have the skills for that… USE THEM FOR GODS’ SAKE!!!
I am too lazy to start with issue one (maybe someday) so I will jump to the two latest released chapters on the USA, 11 and 12, is not that far already at most volume 3 and the damn thing has 6 volumes and still worry so is not to late to catch on… I will threat both of these chapters as they come as a set, they explain how Yuki and Kaname relationship was long before the start of the manga. Not really spoilers but an explanation.
Chapter 11 eleven start with this page:
Random Scary Vampire: May I drink you blood
Yuki Cross: Sure... wait... NO!!! Stay away from me you pedophile!!! (She didn't say that but at least that is why wished she said -.-)
That is the earliest memory Yuki has of her life, after that she gets saved by a younger Kaname that unable to take out a single word of her lips takes her to Cross academy headmaster to see she is safe from now on, Since they couldn't find anything about her, not even her name or family Cross adopts her as his daughter. As Yuki seems to have forget everything except maybe breath(or maybe she forgots that too and that is the reason she seems to have brain damage -.-) they have to even feed her a pudin in the mouth with spoon. When Kaname tells her to say Ah! to feed her, she notices his fangs and after touching them and confirm they are pointy(duh) she creeps out, Kaname decides to leave so he doesn't discomforts here more.
Next times he checks on her happens a funny scene in which Yuki dresses by herself... but with clothes in the wrong place ... Kaname can't resist the laughter and fills the room with haha's creeping Headmaster Cross as he has never saw him laugh, Yuki definately notices Kaname apologizes and leaves but Yuki runs and grabs his coat saying: Kana... me? this being her first known word.
Kaname visits them once in a while mostly because Cross tells him Yuki is in danger, every single time being a false alarm and every single time Kaname falls for it... XD Yuki is always happy to see him but Kaname tells her every time to say his name without the Sama honorific, Yuki cannot help herself as she views Kaname as a hero. Something that saddens Kaname as he wishes to have a closer relationship with Yuki devoid of formalities.
Cross gave her the name "Yuki"as he believes all girls are princesses, meaning that to him she is his little princess... cute. Also Yuki is one of the few humans that know vampires exist as Cross tell hers but feels special as:
That sounded so dirty...
So years pass and Yuki gets acostumed with her new life... and then Zero comes to spoil it all!!! No really that happens on chapter 12...
Zero came to Cross academy after survived a vampire attack that killed his family, Cross doesn't adopt him but to keep it in place full of vampires... way to go!!! somebody get the kid a mental therapist for gods sake!!!
So obviously at the next visit of Kaname, Zero inmediately snaps and try to hurt him... stupid kid... obviously Kaname puts him in his place. After Kaname is gone Yuki tries to reason with Yuki that Kaname is not a bad vampire but Zero won't listen and even yell at her for "touching him with the hand he used to touch him" Yes people, this might be love.. bleh.
Time later Headmasters Cross anounces his intentions to open the academy to vampires to promote coexistance between the two races(Coexistence I have yet to see... Yuki, Zero and Cross don´t count I mean the rest of the school) Zero can't accept this as vampires took their family, Cross replies him that he also lost someone dear.
Still Zero has a point:
You tell them Zero!!!
Of course Headmaster Cross did as he pleased and opened the school anyways, Kaname agreed to join the Night ClassYuki visits Kaname on the dorm on the first day, since he is busy she decides to wait him on the stair... falling asleep... (is this girl an idiot or what? she basically fell asleep in a den of vampires)
Fortunately Kaname finds her before another vampire confuses with dinner, and takes him to his room... no is not what you think he wants to take her to a safer place... yeah right.
Kaname resist the temptation of
When Yuki wakes up the first thing she notices is Kaname in a really compromising position.
Okay he is not making out with this girl but if you read your Anne Rice or rolplayed you White Wolf correctly you know this is basically the same.
The girl faints because of orgasm blood loss and Kaname notices Yuki looking at him, he whispers she is cruel... Yuki runs.
After all their relationship isn't the same.
Is this over yet?Kaname: You were scared is all right now
Yuki: No it isn't!!! I still have left 3+ more volumes of this thing!!!!
As a final point of this long post I would like to add that Zero is
Just look at him
Look at him!!! For god's sake he is now scratching himself to bleed!! As I said before someone get the damn kid a therapist!!!
Okay kids that is all for today, till next time but before you go one more image.
Zero hates you
As always,
wonderful. If you are new to fables I don't recommend you to start here look for the trades and take number 1 or at the most vol 3 but don't start now, 61 is a very big number.
Blue convinces Alan Moore Flycatcher
Ambrose that making a one man invasion to the homelands is a Sisyphus and very
dumb task as the number of goblins existing on the homelands is probably as high
as normal humans…and these suckers are pretty much better trained for war, so Ambrose
at best could kill a handful before becoming squashed frog.
So fly returns to fabletown with his plans frustrated … and a basket of apples? O.o ‘m following my comic book logic here and if and apparent unimportant thing is focusing then it might be important… or is just Mark Buckingham being evil… who knows -.-
So bufkin gets scared by the forsworn knight… again and nobody in the business office is actually interested on what bufkin has to say cause… THE FRAU IS SPEAKING LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, and when the Frau speaks everybody listens, the frau in all her wisdom and coolness reveals that one of the ways she gets to spy the empire is thanks to the wooden soldiers! O.o these are not actually spying for her willingly but thanks to a enchanted magic brush that uses the guy who paints the soldier eyes she is able to see what the soldiers see... the downside of it is that she can only see things on one soldier eyes each time, but fortunately for her she hit the jackpot as the brush was used to paint the eyes of… the owl and personal pet of Geppeto himself!!! (Remember what I said before about unimportant things? ;) So the plans of Geppeto of recovering Baba Yaga and the wooden soldiers along to invading the mundy world are just a few smart steps of being busted… the question is… Are the leaders of fabletown able to plan and do this smarts steps before the empire realizes?
Returning to Bufkin, the poor monkey is just at the end of his nerves with the damn knight and smashes him to pieces by accident… whoops… I have the feeling he will be haunted by a very angry ghost… Run away!!! After the conversation with Frau Totenkinder; Beauty, Beast and Prince Charming notice the mess made by Bufkin and apart for anger from their part they decide the best is not to move the pieces as they reek of strong magic until they are sure how it works or if it’s dangerous.
Fly wakes up in the night speaking and following instruction from a non-existent voice… dum, dum, dum!!! And enters to the business room (and monkey blood will fill the streets MUAHAHAHA!!!) and finds… a ghost that presents himself as the forsworn knight and ask to be called Lance… end of issue
Wow didn’t expect that actually… Lancelot of all people as a ghost trapped in armor… the future journey of Ambrose seems to get more interesting by the page and if the theories in the fabletown forum are true we might see what is inside the witching well soon!!! OoO
The artwork of Mark Buckingham is perfect as always, I really love how it suits fables and how everybody works more as a team than just as job. I had to get used to Lee Loughridge as a colorist after many issues by Vozzo but I like his job, I find interesting how the farm seems to be in perpetual dawn with his colors
Whoops the review ended kind of long, oh well at least I finished this one.
Also I just noticed… with buying the vol 2 that last week I just read each and every issue of fables except for the last castle and number 50… wow…
The other comics I bought this week were:
*Jack of fables 10
*Death at Death’s door
*The pro
*Transmetropolitan vol 1
*Shojo beat.
I got The
pro and transmetropolitan on discount, Woohoo!!!
By the way... did I mentioned that Alan Moore and Melinda Gebbie got married? Good wishes and many happiness to both!!! =)
