This a site that collects tropes, which are conventions that ocur within fiction works, tropes include cliches. If you feel a character to have characteristics similars to others then you may have a trope, if you think that you may see the way a story develops in other works then you may have a trope too. Symbology may also count.

Each and every work of fiction has tropes and probably your favorite work: be it of prose, comic, manga o movie has already a space in this space when the users give a little of their times to show which tropes it contains.

One example is the Sandman section which has tropes as:

All Myths Are True

mistake by mystics trying to imprison Death. In a later tie-in book
Death takes on human form and wanders the earth for a day, a tradition
she performs once every century.

When they see the embodiment of Eve herself in the Dreaming, they refuse to hurt her, since in a fashion, they are her.

Many tropes you may believed original are proven in this site not to be, like the perky goth one. There are even more fictional examples of this one than the gloomy ones. (Most of the goths I have actually meet in real life are more like this also XD)

Browsing the site is fun as is not only informative but full of witty entries and is ever growing. It can be useful if you are a writer looking for ideas but if you aren't and just have time to burn it can be enjoyable. If you like fiction like you will be in love. Careful because the site is adictive, and if you start you won't stop until you have read EACH AND EVERY ONE of the entries.

I never actually knew many of his works were available in Mexico until I stumbled with them at the library, now I am trying to get every book my income and time lets me.

Also something kind of related with the above... tv tropes... just ruined my life...
Some years back when Disney decided to invest on the 3d animation format they practically burned the bridges behind them... big mistake. Enchanted while being a successful attempt to create another Disney princess line only had 12 minutes of animation animated at a independent company. Most TV animations for Disney were are also made by contract.
Finally Disney returned to their right mind and decided to make full movies in 2d animation format again, to this moment only the Princess and the frog and Rapunzel have been announced.
The princess and the frog will be the first movie about a black princess by Disney (it was about time!!!) her name will be Tiana (formerly Maddy) and the story will flow in New Orleans. Concept art appeared on the Internet right and then but finally we get to appreciate a more definitive picture of Tiana. (I love this picture though, is really cool.)

Some days ago I was finally able to see Enchanted, a film I wanted to see since I first saw the first trailer. Some years ago you wouldn't make me see a Disney movie for nothing in the world, so it's funny how one changes with some time.

The movie made me happy, some parts could have use some work though, more interaction between Prince <del>Cyclops</del> Edward and <del>Elphaba</del> Nancy before them deciding to elope to the fantasy world and marry would have work better, and more interaction between Nancy and Giselle... actually any interaction between them, oh well at least everybody was able to be happy at the end... well except the evil queen but at least this time she had a good motive; fear of losing the throne and with it all the political power and usefullness is actually a pretty realistic motivation, and compared to "being the most beautiful" and "you didn't invited me to your party so you will suffer" makes this queen easier to understand and sympathise. She was probably too paranoid about it as this both the prince and Giselle seemed more busy singing and acting like airheads than interested in ruling... I actually doubt Edward can distinguish between Economy and Ecology XD.

Giselle while very naive at first have useful abilities, not only designing and sewing in record time but great stamina for difficult situations and of course the singing, you never know how useful rats and doves can be :P

I would have liked to have Idina Menzel to sing a song as I have wonderful things about her role as Elphaba in the musical version of Wicked...which got her a tony award... that must mean something.

Actually when I returned to my home a while after the movie I couldn't stoped thinking about Wicked...

I read the novel some months ago, the musical I haven't had the pleasure; as it will be <del>impossible</del> hard to see the original broadway presentation I ended reading the whole Wikipedia entry... it was... <del>very </del>a little different to the novel.

The novel was interesting, at some moments <del>very</del> slow and at some confusing, also at the end it was extremely depresing, there was never any compasion to Elphaba and even worst... she got unjustly infamous. Her dead was practically a joke, and as she was a atheist... to having her be right only about that... is even more depressing, in Wicked... life just sucks...

I probably should do a real review about Wicked... damn I left the book at Mexico city... well some other day will be.

Also I just read the a mexican version will be made about the musical, the role of Elphaba will be played by... Yuridia... it has to be a fucking joke, also the spanish version of the wiki says that she didn't even audition as the producers wanted her for the role... I wonder if her <del>all her cds selling like pancakes </del>popularity has to do something about it... I think I will pass seeing that.

Finally I was able to buy the September issue
of Shojo Beat. As the serialization
of Nana in the magazine said “bye
bye” last month a new manga has to fill the gap, with the high quality and huge
popularity Nana has it probably
wasn’t easy for the SJ staff to find a good substitute but the new manga that
started in the magazine seems to be good enough to fill the gap. I’m talking of
Honey and Clover by Chika Umino.

Honey and Clover in the first chapter shows the
everyday life of tree college students: Yuta Takemoto, Takumi Mayama and
Shinobu Morita who live in a old students building and seem to be most of the
time broke, except for Morita who tends to mysteriously disappear for many days
and always return extremely tired and loaded with cash. The manga starts with
the dorm friends munching down some croquettes Morita brought before
collapsing, and once he starts sleeping there doesn’t to be a human power than
can wake him up, in fact because of his he hasn’t been able to graduate as he
always oversleeps the day he needs to go to his finals. In the morning Yuta
tries to wake him up and he succeeds but Morita ask for other 5 minutes and
goes down again, it comes a moment that Yuta just gives up and shuts before
going that he is not to blame if Morita doesn’t graduate this year, the
sleeping handsome reacts hurries like there is no tomorrow, taking the scooter
Yuta was going in and crashing it into some sculpture projects even.

Back home when everybody is talking in a
classroom a really cute and petite girl arrives, her name is Hagumi and she is
a 18 years old art student even if she looks like a kid. Everybody seems to be
smitten with her princess manners but when Morita arrives and sees her… he goes
running into the fields and comes back with a huge leaf that gives to Hagu and
starts taking her pictures exclamating KOROPOKKUR! KOROPOKKUR!*, scaring the
poor girl in the process.

The boys later found out that Morita uploaded
the pictures of Hagu on the internet as “proof” of the existence of
koropokkuries, Morita though is not that insensitive and once he finds out Hagu
likes pretty shoes immediately buys her a beautiful(and expensive) pair just
her size. Hagy is delirious with happiness.

For the first chapters Honey and Clover really
make a good impression, the art is well drawn and the characters are charming.
I will miss Nana but I will happily follow this new title.

*something like elves.
