Seems that a whole new can of worms has opened, the blogs ranting about the cover of heroes for hire 13 have been multiplying exponentially in the last 24 hours... this is going big...
Also many people already have making a detailing list of what's wrong with the cover, maybe the ones who planned, drawed and aproved the cover thought it was supposed to be funny... well for the reaction I have seen is definately not. Even if the content of the comic has nothing to do with the cover tentacle rape or the mere impling of it is not everybody's cup of tea, actually many people are disgusted by it. Also the cover just don't belong there, if you wan't to do a Marvel porn parody do it, but on the MAX line. The cover just on the place it is, is only scarying potential readers.
hComipress has already released an article about it here
But I am sure you are not only here just to be linked to another page so here goes my rant about it
According to the articles many parents of teenagers boys and girls found that their kids were buying a replica of the death-note and don't think is a good influence for their children.
It's true that an object going by the name of death-note can sound very intimidating, the instructions even more: writing any person name can cause him to die in minute more or less... definitely creepy for anybody not accustomed to the manga.
But still I don't find a problem in owning a death-note replica:
- First because the thing doesn't actually work and it´s buyers know it.
- Some just bought them because they read the manga and thought the book looked cool so they wanted to have one, most of the buyers don't really write names on it and actually use it for homework, drawing, as a diary or just don't use it at all.
- The ones that write names ion it as I said know that the thing won´t work and are actually venting some frustation out of their sistems, is imposible not to have a gripe with somebody specially at school, so this kids just go "GRRR I wish X just died" for the time they took in writing the name and forget it later, there is no really harm in that.
- In case the list is just damn huge, a name appears repeatly in diferent dates or even a parent appears in the book then there just might be something or someone making the kid umcofortable, the best way or action in this case would be honesty and talking with the kid to see if something is bothering him/her and see a way to solve it, not just blaming the damn notebook.
But to many people seems easier to blame a notebook for their problems instead of solving them...
